Maruti Suzuki Celerio is a city car manufactured by Maruti Suzuki in India and Suzuki Motor, Thailand. It replaces the A-Star and Zen Estilo and is marketed to compete with the Tata indica Vista, Honda Brio, Hyundai i10, Ford Figo, Chevrolet Beat and Nissan Micra Active. Maruti Suzuki Celerio is a hatchback car and has 12 versions available in India. It has 7 petrol cars, 4 diesel cars and 1 CNG car. The Celerio comes in six colors, namely, Blazing Red, Cerulean Blue, Glistening Grey, Pearl Artic White, Silky Silver, Sunshine Ray.
Cars with automatic transmission, having no clutch and high acceleration were the demands of the Indian consumer. Hence, Maruti Suzuki launched the all new Celerio with Automated Manual Transmission. The Celerio is India’s first car with an automatic gear shift called EZ Drive. The petrol engine is a K-series latest revision called K10C or K-Next. The gear box is basically a manual transmission with a transmission control unit (TCU) that actuates the hydraulics to shift the gears.
The petrol variant comes equipped with a 998 cc, 3 cylinder, K series engine that produces a maximum power of 67 bhp with peak torque of 9.1 kgm. With a decent output, it returns a fuel efficiency of 23 kmpl for both Automated Manual Transmission and manual versions. The Celerio Diesel was introduced in India on 3rd June 2015. It has a 793cc diesel engine. It is powered by Suzuki’s first ever indigenously developed 2 cylinder motor that puts out 47.6 Bhp of maximum power and 125 Nm of peak torque. It also promises to deliver a segment best mileage of 27.62 kmpl and is christened the most economical diesel hatch India has received till now. Dimensionally, it is identical to the petrol version and apart from the diesel motor, no additional feature is given. The CNG version of the car was also launched in India. It has the same 1 litre engine, which is reset to give 60 bhp of power in CNG mode.
The Celerio is designed with curves. It is designed as CICO styling – Curve In and Curve Out styling. It lends the car a sculpted youthful body that is aerodynamically better and exudes energy. It has a large cabin space. The interiors have been intelligently designed to maximize space and comfort. It gives a roomy cabin, spacious headroom, legroom, shoulder-room and a large boot space. The rear seats have the option of 60:40 split flexibility to increase luggage capacity. It has a lot of little gizmos like integrated audio with Bluetooth connectivity, steering mounted audio controls and multi info display like instantaneous fuel efficiency. The price of Celerio starts from Rs. 3.90 lakhs to Rs. 5.71 lakhs.
